Hello, my lovelies!
Hope you're all doing well on this lovely Tuesday! As for me, it's been pouring rain since 6am this morning...BOO. I slept really well last night, though! Anyways, today I have a review for you on the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. I picked this up after I got my eyebrows threaded for the first time a while ago with my lovely mother. I figured, hey- I finally pushed myself to suck it up and get my eyebrows done- MUCH needed, by the way- so I might as well treat myself. A lot of my friends really enjoy this foundation, so I decided to give it a go.
A couple things to note:
- this foundation is $36: pretty pricey, but around the price of an average high end foundation
- really nice color range! 30 shades total; comes in warm, cool, or neutral
- comes with 1 oz; typical for most foundations
First off, this foundation is pretty high coverage- I'd say it's pretty comparable to the Revlon Colorstay, if you're looking for a drugstore version. It comes off as a matte/satin finish, and leaves you pretty much no shine, which is wonderful for my oily-skinned ladies! Personally, I have combination skin, which tends to lean toward the dry side in the winter, but I still get oily patches. For me, this foundation wears really well, and I needed no touch-ups throughout the day with powder. As for the finish and lasting power, I'm pretty impressed! However, this foundation can leave my skin looking pretty cakey, which is one of my top pet peeves. :(
As for the color match, I'm around a MAC NW30- 35 when I'm tan, 25 when I'm more fair. But color matching is really no problem with this foundation- good job, Estee Lauder! It comes in a total of 30 shades. I wear IW2 in Sand, and it's a pretty good match. But as with almost everything I find, unfortunately, there are some downsides to this product. Like I mentioned before, this foundation tends to look cakey- which I'm pretty sure nobody likes the look of.
Also, this foundation has a pretty heavy scent- and it kind of almost smells like....a nursing home. How unfortunate! Besides these two things, I'm pretty impressed with the foundation- I just don't think it's really geared toward people like me- I tend to like more light-medium coverage, that doesn't leave you completely matte; I like to have a nice "glow." However, if you tend to go for really high coverage foundations for a reasonable price with a HUGE color selection, this is a really good choice.
All in all, I give this foundation a 7/10! Pretty good, but could definitely be improved.
Hope you all benefitted somehow from this review! Let me know what else you'd like me to review/mention in a blog post or video.
MWAH!
